The original portion of the home was built sometime in the early 1900’s as the care-taker’s residence for the estate located nearby at 10 Habersham Way in Buckhead, Atlanta. White Oak Fine homes was contracted to restore and modernize this piece of Atlanta history. As layers of remodeling were stripped away to expose the original structure, the project began to come to life. We discovered solid brick masonry walls, hidden fireplaces and an amazingly well constructed 100-year-old structure. The house was carefully designed and situated on the lot to maximize the natural light and we continued that effort. The residents rarely need to turn on an overhead light during the day.

The old masonry walls posed a few challenges to incorporate modern mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. But with some creativity and careful planning and coordinating, the Design and Construction teams we were able to seamlessly incorporate current MEP systems into the original bones of the structure. Once the original structure was exposed, old problems corrected, new high-end additions constructed and up to date systems installed or planned the real fun started…bringing to life the owner’s luxury design vision while respecting the history of the home and property.
A wonderfully talented design team worked alongside the owner to showcase the natural light flooding the interior in a “soft-contemporary” style by utilizing some very interesting reflective finishes and materials. The entire main level is finished in polished Venetian plaster on the walls as well as ceilings…the effect is nothing short of stunning. Given the inherently private nature of the property, most exterior walls are floor-to-ceiling glass. The owners have the ability to fold back the glass walls to allow the interior space and exterior space to become one.
